Salt Lake starter shuts out 51s

Salt Lake’s Caleb Clay threw a complete-game three-hitter to lift the Bees to a 3-0 victory over the Las Vegas 51s on Sunday in Salt Lake City.

Clay (3-1) also struck out six batters in lowering his ERA to 2.97.

Juan Centeno collected two of the hits for the 51s (58-44), and Wilmer Flores had the other one to extend his hitting streak to 21 games. That is the longest streak since J.P. Arencibia also hit in 21 straight four years ago. Joey Cora’s 37-game streak in 1989 is the franchise record.

Tony Campana drove in all three runs for Salt Lake (42-60), going 3-for-5.
