University of Nevada, Las Vegas and University of Nevada, Reno may have a longstanding rivalry in regards to collegiate sports, but how about when it comes to triple-A baseball? You betcha.
When the Las Vegas 51s host the Reno Aces on Thursday, June 16 at Cashman Field, the two schools are holding a friendly contest to see which university can draw the most fans to the ballgame.
Although the annual event is open to anyone who is a friend or alumni of either school, the event is officially dubbed “UNLV Alumni Night at the Ballpark.”
Marking the fourth year of the competition, UNLV has been victorious the past three years and hopes to continue its undefeated streak of drawing the most fans to the game.
Oh, and Thursday’s are also $1 beer night at 51s games.
UNLV’s Hey Reb mascot and the UNLV Rebel Girls dance team will be on hand to liven up the crowd along with Cosmo, the 51s’ mascot.
The winning school will be determined by whichever university receives the most promo codes entered through advanced ticket purchases made online.
If you’re team Rebels (3rd base side), you’ll want to enter in “UNLV” whereas if you’re for the Wolf Pack (1st base side), you’ll want to enter “UNR” when prompted.
