Aces announce 3 transactions as WNBA free agency begins

WNBA free agency began Thursday, and Bill Laimbeer, Las Vegas Aces coach and president of basketball operations, is already wheeling and dealing.

The Aces announced the free-agent signings of center Carolyn Swords and forward Tamera Young on Thursday. They also traded center Kayla Alexander and a third-round pick in the 2019 WNBA draft to the Indiana Fever for a third-round pick in 2019.

Swords, 28, played for the Seattle Storm last season, averaging 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 30 games. She played for the New York Liberty under Laimbeer in 2015 and 2016.

Young, 31, is a 10-year league veteran who averaged 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 35 games with the Chicago Sky and the Atlanta Dream in 2017.

Alexander, 27, was drafted by the San Antonio Stars in 2013 and spent her entire career with the franchise. She averaged 6.2 points and 3.1 rebounds last season.
