The Aces selected South Carolina forward A’ja Wilson with the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft on Thursday in New York. She became the franchise’s first pick since it relocated to Las Vegas from San Antonio in October.
The Las Vegas Aces unveiled their jerseys Thursday morning on Las Vegas TV station Fox 5, hours before the WNBA Draft in New York City.
South Carolina senior forward A’ja Wilson averaged 22.6 points, 11.8 rebounds and 3.2 blocks in 2017-18, sweeping all the major awards. She’s expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday’s WNBA Draft.
Presale single-game tickets are now available for the Aces home opener, which is May 27 versus the Seattle Storm at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
The Aces are negotiating with the Las Vegas Sports Network on a radio deal for their inaugural season, which begins May 20.
Cardte Hicks and Musiette McKinney, who both played in first American professional women’s basketball league, were reunited at Cox Pavilion on Monday, and joined by Moriah Jefferson and Sequoia Holmes of the Las Vegas Aces.
The WNBA’s Aces have re-signed forward Valeriane Ayayi, the team announced Wednesday. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.
