Colorado State whips UNR by MW-record 56 points

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Reserves Gian Clavell and Fred Richardson III combined for 41 points and John Gillon had 11 assists to lead Colorado State to a 98-42 victory over UNR on Wednesday night.

The 56-point win set a Mountain West record for largest victory margin. In its last road game, the Wolf Pack defeated UNLV 64-62 on Jan. 7 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The margin of defeat was UNR’s largest since a 128-66 loss to St. Joseph’s in 1971.

Clavell scored 21 and Richardson 20 for the Rams, who hit 56.9 percent (37 of 65) of their field-goal attempts. Both players hit 7 of 11 shots and made four 3-pointers apiece for Colorado State, which went 13 of 24 on 3-point attempts.

The Rams (16-2, 3-2 MW) led 55-12 at halftime after hitting 9 of 14 on 3-pointers and 54.3 percent of their shots overall. Clavell scored 17 and Richardson and Daniel Bejarano 10 apiece in the half.
