Former UNLV star Greg Anthony back on the air

Former UNLV basketball star and TV sports analyst Greg Anthony is returning to broadcasting this weekend, according to Sports Illustrated.

Anthony, an analyst with CBS Sports and Turner Sports, has been off the air since January when he was charged with solicitation of a prostitute.

Turner Sports has reinstated him as a game analyst for the NBA’s Orlando Summer League games July 4-10. He will be part of the broadcast for Saturday’s game between the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers.

“I’d like to thank my family for their continued support,” Anthony said in a statement to Sports Illustrated. “I’m looking forward to returning to my role as a basketball analyst and I’m grateful to Turner Sports and the NBA for this opportunity.”

He was a guard on the Rebels’ team that won the national college championship in 1990. He was drafted by the New York Knicks in 1991 and he played for six NBA teams. He played 11 seasons in the NBA before joining CBS in 2008.

Anthony, 47, was arrested Jan. 16 in Washington,D.C., in a prostitution sting operation. He reached a deal with prosecutors in February where he agreed to perform community service in exchange for the dismissal of the charge.
