Horse Racing, Santa Anita Park, 10/30/11

Today at Santa Anita Park

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 - 1 mile (turf), Purse $27,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

3 Interpatation - Just missed to the favorite Porfido last out; had a slightly wide trip, now draws an inside stall.

7 Porfido - Like horses that won and ran a slower Beyer; his running has improved since dropping to this mid-level.

Long Shot - 2 Waltzing With Blue

Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $51,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up

4 Shrug - Carla Gaines barn has been smoking hot this meet; P Val subs for Garrett Gomez who is at Churchill today.

1 Dance With Gable - Was scratched for this spot and I can see why; draws the rail and has speed to protect his position.

Long Shot - 5 Sirocco Strike

Race 3 - 6 furlongs, Purse $27,000, Claiming $25,000, 2-year-olds

7 Hot Ride - Smoking win last out, anything close to a repeat would crush these; can win on or just off the early lead.

1 Unhitchthetrailor - I'm convinced the Beyer figs for Fairplex are unusually low; runs first time for a price tag.

Long Shot - 4 Plenny of Henny

Race 4 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $45,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up

9 Hope and Believe - Been away 10-months since exiting a strong MSW field; The Factor and Houston Harbor are fast ones.

2 Cyclometer - FTS has been working up a storm over his home track, Santa Anita; watch the tote board for clues.

Long Shot - 4 Tingaleo

Race 5 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Claiming $32,000, 3-year-olds

5 Cat in the Forest - Draw a line thru an ugly turf route and his resume looks fine; tactical speed to sit a trip.

7 Chinese Praise - Ran miserably up in Fresno fair; returns to SoCal and dirt where he has run his best races.

Long Shot - 2 Mack's Gold Bullet

Race 6 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $45,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds

11 Written Rule - Been well bet in both career starts; parking lot post is OK in this elongated sprint distance.

4 Tribal Jewel - FTS from the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer; live rider Joel Rosario up, watch the tote board for clues.

Long Shot - 2 Heart Fever

Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $15,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up

8 The Hunt Is On - Strong run when second best last time out; looks like the toughest race of the pick 6 sequence.

1 Warren's Kong - Simple journey of hug the rail and grind it out late; his best races have come at this low class.

Long Shot - 9 Trueno

Race 8 - 1 1/8th miles (turf), Purse $48,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

6 Yodelen Dan - When he runs at this $40K class, he's always right there; excellent resume over Arcadia sod.

1 Donato - Terrible race on dirt in last; returns to turf where he can wake up for forgiving handicappers.

Long Shot - 11 Antidote

Race 9 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds

9 Cha Cha Latte - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from a stakes to this; adding blinker's on and Joel Rosario.

3 Peppy Bolly - Ran OK last time first out for a price tag; this is a moribund field so a repeat race gives her a shot.

Long Shot - 1 Bold Pretense

Best Bet - 9 Cha Cha Latte (race 9)

Santa Anita Saturday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/4/$21.80; Long Shots, 9/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/1/$4.40
