Horse Racing: Today at Del Mar, November 13

Post Time 12:30 p.m.

Race 1 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 6 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies, 2-year-olds

6 Omorfi Kopella - Typical green career debut, slow early, fast late; what happens is they figure things out halfway thru the race.

2 Dixie Tweet - Her two grass races are a huge improvement over her two dirt tries; should get a ground saving trip.

Long Shot - 7 Flat Footed Mama

Race 2 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $19,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up

3 Counting Days - Speedy sort has a solid synthetic turf resume; sliding down the claiming ladder for Vladimir Cerin.

7 Designated - Was overmatched in last and slips down to a $16K price tag; nice maiden claiming win at Del Mar two races ago.

Long Shot - 5 Prince of Paris

Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds

10 Holy Ascension - Parking lot post but has enough tactical speed to find a spot; should maintain price with Saul Arias riding.

2 Kat’s Hurricane - Ran awful in Arcadia last out; key is her debut race two back was a good one over the Del Mar synthetics.

Long Shot - 3 Seek Safe Harbor

Race 4 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 6 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds

9 Doeling - Tom Proctor filly just missed when rallying in her career debut; switch to stable rider Drayden Van Dyke, gets 5-pounds still.

8 Vow Me Over - Tries fourth different rider after three thirds in a row; Mark Glatt hasn’t used Kent Desormeaux a whole lot.

Long Shot - 1 Ol’ Fashion Gal

Race 5 - 6 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Claiming $16,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

6 Eddies Curl - Small upset predicted with Eddie Freeman charge; she has a solid synthetic resume and fits well class wise.

3 Moscato Girl - Claimed by Bill Spawr off a runaway win in last; key is if he can maintain her peak form, which would be good enough.

Long Shot - 5 Hotaling Heart

Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $40,000, Optional claiming $50,000, 2-year-olds

6 Great Lou - I don’t usually pick horses that just graduated; this one was a sharp winner and the barn may of gotten away with one.

5 Global Magician - Tepid chalk was cooked in a speed duel last out; Peter Miller takes the blinkers off so expect a stalking trip.

Long Shot - 4 Wildcat Sailor

Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 6 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $20,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

7 Demonica - First try on turf was a corker of a win; we’ll find out today how legit the fast out and finish really was.

5 Tangelo - Dead late closer was a stride late in last; she is always at the mercy of pace, so Mario Gutierrez may have to adjust some.

Long Shot - 8 Winninginfashion

Race 8 - 1 mile, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up

4 Storm the Channel - Gets the ultimate equipment change, a first time gelding; tries synthetic surface for the very first time.

3 Vavoom - Speedball will hope this is a no passing zone field; Drayden Van Dyke will try to nurse him along on the lead.

Long Shot -8 True Visionary

Best Bet - 4 Storm the Channel (race 8)

Del Mar Sunday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/5/$38.80; Long Shots, 8/1/$8.00; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
