By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $54,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up
5 U S Citizen - Just missed by a nose in last returning from a 9-month hiatus; double tough if he moves forward one step.
3 Sacred Ovation - Joe Steiner has lost sleep after his last two races on this guy; can’t lose races any closer than that.

Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $35,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
3 Zuzu’s Petals - Could be a Joe Steiner daily double, surely a rarity, at least in SoCal; will be grinding late.
4 Lets Get Frisky - Draw a line thru the bad turf race and her resume looks fine; main man Rafael Bejarano up.
Long Shot - 2 Wallula Bluffs
Race 3 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 10 feet), $70,000 Tsunami Slew, 3-year-olds
5 Rosengold - Has won 3 straight for Julio Canani; given a brief break, tough to beat if ready to continue his roll.
6 Gabriel Charles - He won his only turf start, in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf; main question is stretching out in distance.
Long Shot - 3 Pure Loyalty
Race 4 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
1 Ambitious Brew - Typical green debut, slow early, fast late; figures to get way overbet, but can save every bit of ground.
8 Gentlemen Pete - Leap of faith that Rafael Bejarano can carve out a trip from a parking lot post; blinkers off for this.
Long Shot - 6 Trial Spin
Race 5 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up
6 Captain Beau - Dead late closer got up in the final stride last time; note he won for $14K, now drops down to $8K.
10 Arcodoro - Tepid chalk in the hardest race on the card; race 5 should be, in the pick 5 and the pick 6.
Long Shot - 5 Simply Sharp
Race 6 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
3 Tayrona - When a small barn gets a top rider, that tells you something; Rafael Bejarano replacing Garrett Gomez.
9 Gianthalf - FTS from Richard Mandella is the ML chalk; has been working bullets, we’ll see how it translate in the daytime.
Long Shot - 5 Rosies Ready
Race 7 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $29,000, Claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
8 Ghost N Your Heart - Always root for Iggy Puglisi when he has a live mount; his main man has been trainer Paul Aguirre.
10 J and S Express - Claimed by Bill Spawr and raised up in class; huge trainer upgrade, improvement is expected.
Long Shot - 7 Queen of the Hill
Race 8 - 6 furlongs, Purse $54,000, Allowance, Cal-breds, Fillies and Mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Promiscuoussuances - Lone speed is one of the best bets in horse racing; Edwin Maldonado will send and not look back.
8 Tribal Peace - Was not ready for prime time in last; should improve a lot in second start off a 10-month hiatus.
Long Shot - 4 Secret Genius
Race 9 - 6 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
6 Devious Chic - Beaten favorite gets a rider switch to Mario Gutierrez; suspect he’s a lot faster than he showed in last.
9 Goodtobewild - After 3 straight seconds to start his career, is he a nibbler or will he break thru facing slowpokes.
Long Shot - 3 Maddog Maddie
