TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 6 furlongs, Purse, Claiming $16,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
3 Jesse’s Giacomo - Doug O’Neill gives a lot of riders a shot; he uses Saul Arias as this filly’s regular rider, nice gesture.
2 Giannonatti - Claimed by Genaro Valleho off a good second in NoCal; has proven class, thus these are her friends.
Long Shot - 1 Wellington Beauty
Race 2 - 7 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
9 Coco de Carchy - Showed a lot of improvement first race for a price tag; no monsters in her, has a puncher’s chance to upset.
7 Frannie’sspirittoo - Like the turn back in distance from route to elongated sprint; figures to be moving well in the lane.
Long Shot - 6 Rosa Divina
Race 3 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $36,000, Claiming $32,000, 3-year-olds
3 Meringue Pie - Doug O’Neill has an uncoupled entry so caveat emptor; speedball will play catch me if you can.
6 Aerial Artist - What are the odds of Saul Arias winning two races on the Sunday card; this one is live for Paul Aguirre.
Long Shot - 4 Tricky Shane
Race 4 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $35,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
8 Soi Phet - Claimed by Leonard Powell and has a chance to upset; this is a wide open race and I’m looking for some value.
2 Solid South - Ran a better than looked third in last; big rider switch to Rafael Bejarano for the money shot.
Long Shot - 3 Awesome Address
Race 5 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
8 Art Official - Tepid chalk has a parking lot post in this turf sprint; thing is the field takes an elbow left leaving the gate.
4 Troy Story - He’s had 18 chances, but has run fast enough to be competitive; this is a slowpoke group.
Long Shot - 2 Star Rocker
Race 6 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $54,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Heart Stealer - Bob Baffert takes over this east coast shipper from Dale Romans; expect improvement with eastern class.
9 Corlett Drive - Stretching out in distance after some good looking sprints; expect Rafael Bejarano to carve out a trip.
Long Shot - 2 Brooklyn Rose
Race 7 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet) Purse $26,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Pink Blossom - Expect speedball tactics from an inside post; Edwin Maldonado likes the lead, or being close to the pace.
5 Gelila - Tepid chalk does not have one drop of early speed; Victor Espinoza will sit in arrears and make one run.
Long Shot -3 Selleria
Race 8 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $57,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up
2 High Test - No barn is hotter at Hollywood Park than the Mike Pupye barn; if you’ve been betting him, you have money for Del Mar.
3 Doyouseemecoming - Tepid chalk was a 9/1 long shot winner in last; steps up to face tougher, must repeat that good race.
Long Shot - 5 So Brilliant
Race 9 - 5 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds
3 Gangnam Guy - Has done a pop and stop two races in a row; Mike Machowsky switches for Rafael Bejarano for the money shot.
2 Tamarando - FTS from the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer; his main man in Bejarano, but settle for Julien Leparoux in here.
Long Shot - 4 Charisma Code - Typical green debut, slow early and fast late; expect improvement for Dean Pederson.
Best Bet - 7 Heart Stealer (race 6)
Hollywood Park Saturday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 20/8/$88.20; Long Shots, 10/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
