today at Hollywood park

Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 4 1/2 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
1 Ninnavee - Speed and the rail in this abbreviated sprint; Joe Talamo has a simple strategy today.
6 Time for Angie - FTS from Walther Solis who runs a solid baby barn; watch the tote board for clues.
Long Shot - 4 Tom Kha
Race 2 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $26,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
3 Bipartisan - I like it when a horse wins while running a slower Beyer speed figure; may run the faster race two back.
1 Affrettando - Dead late closer will be coming, but in time?; also switching from turf to synthetics.
Long Shot - 4 Sanibel Sid
Race 3 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $40,000, Claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
1 Thermal Nermal - Class relief after chasing tougher in an allowance; lone speed and the rail, the best bet in horse racing.
2 Toomanytomatoes - Claimed by the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer off a nice win; moves up one notch in class.
Long Shot - 5 Secret Cove
Race 4 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $21,000, Claiming $16,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 Hidden Passion - Speed is always a danger, especially in a cheaper class; class relief can only help too.
6 Grand Corredora - Dead late closer will need a quick pace; sometimes a race falls apart and you keep passing horses.
Long Shot - 2 Sassy Brunette
Race 5 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $54,000, Allowance, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
8 Russel’s Run - More speed and with the turf rail out 10 feet, that’s another edge; goes as fast and as far as he can.
9 Bench Light - Tepid chalk figures to sit mid-pack and try to corral the speed late; one stride late on sod in last.
Long Shot - 3 Collation
Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
10 Itsalwayssomething - Flew thru the lane in debut and just missed; will win this with one step of improvement.
3 Surf N Ski - Big rider switch to Joe Talamo for the money shot; Talamo won 3 races on Thursday’s card.
Long Shot - 8 Single Launch
Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $54,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds
5 Chief Havoc - MSW win was pretty emphatic; bred by Giant’s Causeway out of an A.P. Indy mare to run all day long.
4 Manando - Lost to his stablemate War Academy last time out; if he’s loose on the lead today, look out.
Long Shot - 8 Kid Dreams
Race 8 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
9 Airfoil - Showed solid improvement in his second career start; he has the pedigree to be a real good one with maturity.
1 Quality Plan - FTS from Bob Baffert has been working fast, what else; watch the tote board for additional clues.
Long Shot - 7 Tenkiller Kid
Best Bet - 1 Thermal Nermal (race 3)
Hollywood Park Thursday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/3/$19.60; Long Shots, 7/1/$6.00; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Hollywood Park Totals - 81/20/$147.40; Long Shots, 39/5/$40.60; Best Bets, 4/1/$3.20
SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY - #14 Calistoga (7/2) in race 8 at Churchill Downs. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Thursday, Master Wesley ran out at Churchill Downs. Stats - 70/47/$347.50; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
