Today at Santa Anita
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $47,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Playful Humor - Exits a key race where Lady Ten and Jolly Days won next out; been away 6-months, but showed real ability then.
4 Remarkable Moon - Dead late closer will hope for a fast early pace to chase; has the right jockey for that running style.
Long Shot - 3 Readyforhercloseup
Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $47,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds
5 Shakin It Up - Son of Midnight Lute gets first time blinkers on after a strong second in debut; tough if he improves one step.
1 Manando - Longer odds colt of a Bob Baffert uncoupled entry; flattered when Tree of Life won next time out.
Long Shot - 4 Caballo Del Cielo
Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $16,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up
1 Arabian Storm - Popular horse has been claimed three races in a row; flattered when Coo Coo Cachoo won next time out.
3 Hidden Blessing - Trainer Blake Heap is having an outstanding meet with a small barn; horse clearly fits at this comfort level.
Long Shot - 9 Afleet Deal
Race 4 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $53,000, Optional claiming $62,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
6 Unusual Hottie - Very fine turf resume with 8-for-8 in the money finishes; closer has more tactical speed than you may think.
4 Jet Blue Girl - Has run well three times since claimed by Neil French; Cal-bred clearly shows he belongs in this open company.
Long Shot - 7 Missdealornodeal
Race 5 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
7 Where's Henry - Did a classic pop and stop in return from a 10-month hiatus; didn't help with a poor start too.
2 Axle - Wanted no part of a 2-turn race when he was nearly eased in the stretch; his races before that were pretty good.
Long Shot - 5 Bull Time
Race 6 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $28,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
1 In High Regards - Speedball stretching out around 2-turns; he will like the turf rail out 15 feet, catch him to win.
3 Baby Blake - Second in both career turf starts; will need to settle, won't get the lead with In High Regards on the wood.
Long Shot - 4 Winds of Dubai
Race 7 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $16,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Tip Your Hat - Ran a remarkable race after stumbling badly at the start; second start off an 11-month hiatus.
1 Tiz a Brite Miss - Speedball did a pop and stop in a 2-turn turf route; cuts back today on dirt, should hold her speed longer.
Long Shot - 6 Secret Genius
Race 8 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), $100,000 Autumn Miss, Fillies, 3-year-olds
1 Vionnet - Won like a talented horse in last; this is a test for class, I think she has the goods to handle these.
6 Lady Ten - Strong turf resume with 8-for-8 races in the money; tactical speed will come in handy with the rail out 15 feet.
Long Shot - 3 Charm the Maker
Race 9 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
1 Turn On the Brites - Ran a winning race last out for this bottom level class; facing an incredibly slow group tonight.
9 Shoeshine Johnny - Trainer Phil D'Amato has won with 3-of-4 second time out starters; exits a strong bullet workout.
Long Shot - 6 Iamtheganster
Best Bet - 2 Tip Your Hat (race 7)
