October 30, 2014 - 6:20 pm
Post Time 11:25 a.m.
Race 1 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf), Purse $75,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
11 Intoxicating Move - Claimed four races ago by Philip D’Amato: shown steady improvement and already had a fine resume down the hill.
7 Night Song - Been away a full year, but have to be intrigued by Euro pedigree; first time with Lasix and in the Simon Callaghan barn.
Long Shot - 5 Starry Skies
Race 2 - 1 3/4 miles, $200,000 Las Vegas Marathon, 3-year-olds and up
9 Cary Street - Long winded sort won the Greenwood Cup two races ago; didn’t handle the slop at Belmont, will love it fast and firm today.
5 Big Cazanova - Draw a line thru an ill-fated trip to Belmont and his resume looks just fine; has speed to attend the early pace.
Long Shot - 7 Sky Kingdom
Race 3 - 7 furlongs, $200,000 Golden State Juvenile Fillies, Cal-breds, Fillies, 2-year-olds
4 My Fiona - Has the most, and best, stakes experience in the field; big rider switch to Rafael Bejarano for the money shot.
1 Stormy Adieu - Was burned up in a vicious speed duel last time; Ingrid Mason using Florent Giroux, a much more patient jockey.
Long Shot - 9 Tatum’s Gold
Race 4 - 1 1/8th miles (turf), $200,000 Twilight Derby, 3-year-olds
11 Ring Weekend - It took a couple awful races on dirt to try turf; voila, he has a new preferred surface and a budding turf star.
6 Enterprising - Ran a cropper in last, by far the worst race of his career; forgiving handicappers can offer one more chance.
Long Shot - 10 Long On Value
Race 5 - 7 furlongs, $100,000 Damascus, 3-year-olds and up
2 Midnight Hawk - Was hot on the Triple Crown trail for a while; co-owned by pro coaches Joel Quenneville and Mike Tice.
11 Bahamian Squall - Fast east coast sprinter ran in the BC Sprint last year; has not had the same success this year, but last was good.
Long Shot - 7 Declassify
Race 6 - 1 mile (turf), $1-Million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, 2-year-olds
7 War Envoy - Been knocking on the door in group stakes all summer; first time with Lasix, seasoned colt from top Aidan O’Brien barn.
4 Commemorative - Nice stalking style that could transfer well to firm turf today; clearly has a high ceiling in fourth career start.
Long Shot - 10 Startup Nation
Race 7 - 1 mile, $1-Million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, 3-year-olds and up
9 Tapiture - Can sit a perfect trip with a crowd dueling for the early lead; smart move to cut back instead of going in the Classic.
1 Goldencents - Was flattered in last year’s BC Mile by a speed biased main track; draws well in post 1, but may find some escorts.
Long Shot - 8 Fed Biz
Race 8 - 1 mile (turf), $1-Million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, Fillies, 2-year-olds
2 Osaila - More love for the Euros in the turf stakes; has been developing thru the summer and may be peaking at the right time.
14 Qualify - Aidan O’Brien came loaded for bear in the turf races; will race first time with Lasix and stable rider Ryan Moore.
Long Shot - 10 Quality Rocks
Race 9 - 1 1/8th miles, $2-Million Breeders’ Cup Distaff, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
11 Close Hatches - Don’t know what happened at Keeneland; she was unbeatable until then, ran second to Beholder in this race last year.
10 Untapable - While she is favored, history shows a great older horse usually beats a great 3-YO; draw a line thru the Haskell.
Long Shot - 3 Iotapa
Race 10 - 7 furlongs, Purse $75,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
2 Day of Fury - Caps off day 1 of the Breeders’ Cup; if you follow me, you know I like cut back horses like this one example.
7 Jimmy Bouncer - His two wins are both visually impressive; a Cal-bred, he remains eligible for this first level race condition.
Long Shot - 11 Whine for Wine
Best Bet - 4 My Fiona (race 3)
