Take Cowboys to cash in as MNF ‘dogs vs. Redskins
December 7, 2015 - 3:42 pm
The Dallas Cowboys have yet to win a game this season without quarterback Tony Romo. The Washington Redskins have yet to win back-to-back games this season. Something has to give in today’s “Monday Night Football” matchup between the two longtime NFC East rivals.
The Redskins, who have won their last five home games and lead the division with a losing record (5-6), are favored by 3 points at every Las Vegas sports book except for Treasure Island, which has Washington laying 3½ points. The total is between 42 and 42½.
Handicapper Jim Kruger (vegassportsauthority.com) has a small wager on Dallas that would’ve been larger if not for Cowboys starting quarterback Matt Cassel, who is 0-4 in four starts this season for Dallas.
Kruger is backing the Cowboys largely because of their superior running game.
“The Redskins’ running game started out strongly early in the season but, except for a colossal game against New Orleans, has done poorly,” he said. “Dallas’ running game has improved after a rocky start. They did have two poor rushing games recently, but that was against two of the best rush defenses in the league, Tampa and Carolina.”
Washington is favored for only the second time in the last 11 games against Dallas, which drilled the Redskins 44-17 at FedEx Field in December 2014 in the teams' most recent meeting.
Washington, coming off a 20-14 home win over the New York Giants, has lost seven of its last eight home games on MNF and is 3-7 against the spread in its last 10 MNF appearances overall.
Betting on the underdog and the under on MNF this season has been a profitable strategy, with ‘dogs going 10-2-1 ATS and the under cashing in 10 of 13 games.
