5 Off the Deep End - Logical chalk was a devastating debut winner; trying turf and winners for the first time remains a tall order.
Long Shot - 10 G’night
Race 2 - 1 mile, Purse $16,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Incredible Journey - Has done everything but win in her last two starts, both at this reduced class; will be grinding again late.
3 Lust for Life - Could put an exclamation point on a terrific meet by the Richard Baltas barn; last race must be repeated.
Long Shot - 1 Winninginfashion
Race 3 - 1 mile (turf), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
8 Peggy Sue’s Loose - Has been productive on turf with 5-of-7 in the money finishes; still she looks more like a nibbler.
12 Euroclydon - Third start off the claim by Kristin Mulhall; Tyler Baze for Kent Desormeaux who was MIA the other day.
Long Shot - 4 Grazenette
Race 4 - 6 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
7 Storm Power - Been away since facing much tougher last Del Mar; been away a while and returns in a new barn of Robertino Diodoro.
4 Kings Adventure - Solid debut run for Jeff Mullins, who now adding blinkers on; double tough with just one step of improvement.
Long Shot - 6 Conscience
Race 5 - 6 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
8 Hanna No Sir - To say that Philip D’Amato has done a fine job replacing retired Mike Mitchell is an understatement; the one to beat.
5 Mom’s Winner - Showed vast improvement in second career start for Louis Bradvica; won’t be 10/1 odds tonight.
Long Shot - 7 Moonlight Stroll
Race 6 - 1 mile (turf), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Baruta - Stretches out around 2-turns after three frustrating seconds; Papa Mandella has yet to add blinkers on to this mare.
10 Magnificent Shirl - NYRA invader joins the maestro barn of Jerry Hollendorfer; he’s had plenty of time to scope out this new talent.
Long Shot - 5 Marcyjane
Race 7 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
6 Play Maker - Taking a huge class drop to the bottom for trainer George Papaprodromou; rare live mount for Alonso Quinonez.
2 Malibu Colony - Didn’t run much in his debut last Del Mar; has been gelded since and returns at the bottom, not being asked to do much.
Long Shot - 4 Gospel Music
Race 8 - 1 3/4 miles (turf), $200,000 San Juan Capistrano Handicap, 3-year-olds and up
8 Quick Casablanca - Clearly will be a single for many in the pick 6 and pick 4; Chilean import does nothing but marathon events.
5 Big Kick - Was impressive winning an O/C $50K marathon on grass; this race is for gallopers, long winded ones at that.
Long Shot - 3 Irish Surf
Race 9 - 6 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
9 Fly to Freedom - Makes her third start off a 20-month vacation; has run two sharp races and has the back class to race another big one.
5 Quay Factor - Switches back to dirt from the hillside turf course; the good runs offer Peter Miller options moving forward.
Long Shot - 1 Ruff Proof
Race 10 - 1 1/4 miles (turf), Purse $40,000, Starter handicap $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
5 Polytechnicien - Chance for a chalky ending to a successful, and long, Santa Anita meet; this one has improved a ton for Doug O’Neill.
6 Husband’s Folly - Was reclaimed by Jerry Hollendorfer, one of the best trainer angles in horse racing; expect another solid run today.
