Big third inning propels Sounds to win over 51s

Jordan Brown singled home two runs to ignite a decisive five-run third inning, and the Nashville Sounds held off the 51s for a 7-6 Pacific Coast League victory in Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday night.

Brown snapped a 1-1 tie with his single, and the Sounds (62-59) added three more runs in the inning on a single by Taylor Green, a run-scoring groundout and Matt Garrel's sacrifice fly.

The 51s (60-61) pulled within 6-5 in the fifth on a run-scoring single by Matt McCoy, an RBI double from Travis Snider, a run-producing groundout and Adam Loewen's single.

Nashville picked up a run in the bottom of the inning when Erick Almonte singled home Brown, who had doubled to lead off.

Las Vegas again pulled to within a run in the seventh when David Cooper singled home Adeiny Hechavarria, who had his second double in as many games since being called up from Double-A New Hampshire.

Sam Narron (6-5) worked the first five innings for Nashville to pick up the win, while three relievers held the 51s at bay, with Zack Segovia working the final two-thirds of an inning for his second save.

P.J. Walters (7-6) took the loss for the 51s, giving up six runs on six hits over four innings while walking one and striking out five.

McCoy, Hechavarria, Loewen and Ricardo Nanita each had two of Las Vegas' 11 hits.
