Colorado clips Wranglers in final minute

Trent Daavettila scored a power-play goal with 42 seconds remaining in regulation Saturday night to lift the Colorado Eagles to a 4-3 victory over the Wranglers in Loveland, Colo.

Las Vegas forward Adam Hughesman was penalized for holding at 18:03 to give Colorado (9-3-2) the man advantage.

The Wranglers (5-10-1) tied it 3-3 at 3:29 of the third on Geoff Irwin’s fifth goal of the season.

Geoff Paukovich scored an unassisted goal, his second in as many days, 2:36 into the game, but Luke Fulghum tied it two minutes later on the power play. Irwin went off for hooking at 2:50.

Defenseman Jeff May netted a power-play goal, his seventh of the season, midway through the second period to put Las Vegas ahead 2-1, but the Eagles scored 39 seconds apart later in the frame to take the lead.

Kyle Ostrow tied it with a wraparound goal before Riley Nelson beat Mitch O’Keefe (28 saves) on a breakaway.

The Wranglers, who have played seven straight (2-4-1) away from home, will play at Idaho on Tuesday and Friday before returning home on Dec. 6, when they’ll host Bakersfield at the Orleans Arena.
