Cowboys player blasts NFL for canceling Vegas fantasy football event

In the wake of Tony Romo being forced to cancel a fantasy football event scheduled for July 10 to 12 in Las Vegas because of the NFL’s policy against players being associated with gambling, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback made a politically correct post on his Twitter account.
“NFL has canceled our fantasy football convention this year in Vegas and that is disappointing,” Romo posted. “I’m sad for the fans and players.”
Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, one of a plethora of NFL players scheduled to take part in the event at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, had a more colorful reaction.
“@tonyromo don’t understand whenever they make (expletive) load of money off of us smh…..,” Bryant posted.
Less than an hour later, Bryant was still steamed.
“@tonyromo put that event together for the fans… Geniuses (expletive),” he posted.
Ron Reese, a spokesman for Las Vegas Sands Corp., told the Associated Press that “The NFL has a credibility gap on this issue the size of the Grand Canyon.”
“Nearly half the teams in the league are partnering with fantasy football wagering websites, but a convention in Las Vegas is a bridge too far?” he said. “It’s about time the NFL comes down from its ivory tower.”
