DeWitt’s bat powers 51s to victory over Colorado Springs

Blake DeWitt homered twice and drove in four runs as the 51s raced to an 8-0 lead after seven innings but then had to withstand an eighth-inning Colorado Springs rally for an 8-5 Pacific Coast League victory over the Sky Sox in Colorado Springs, Colo.

DeWitt hit solo home runs in the first and fifth innings and had a two-run double in the third as Las Vegas won its third straight game after dropping six in a row.

Heath Totten (5-5) sailed through the first four innings for Las Vegas before running into trouble in the eighth, when he gave up four of the Sky Sox's five runs without getting an out.

Reliever Brandon Tuten gave up the fifth Sky Sox run but got out of the inning.

Yhency Brazoban, on a rehabilitation assignment for the parent Los Angeles Dodgers, picked up his first save with a scoreless ninth inning.
