fishing report

■ LAKE MEAD -- Shad and stripers are beginning to move to their winter lies. Most successful baits continue to be cut anchovies and jigging spoons below 90 feet deep in the Vegas Wash area. Catfish can be caught using stink baits and cut anchovies fished around coves. There was no report on largemouth or smallmouth bass. Trout were planted Tuesday at the Hemenway fishing pier and at Crawdad Cove. Tuesday plants will continue until the end of the year.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Striper fishing has been hit or miss at Cottonwood Cove. Successful methods have been trolling and still-fishing with cut anchovies and sardines. Catfish are hitting cut anchovies and stink baits. Trout were planted Tuesday at Placer Cove and Powerline Cove. These also will be excellent locations for large stripers. Willow Beach continues to yield good trout fishing despite low water levels. Anglers are using PowerBait, salmon eggs, small lures and flies to catch fish.

■ URBAN PONDS -- The Nevada Department of Wildlife planted trout Tuesday at Floyd Lamb, Sunset and Lorenzi parks and Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City. Most anglers are landing fish using jigs, spoons and flies, and others are using worms and PowerBait. All urban ponds have a three-fish limit. Catch-and-release anglers should use single, barbless hooks.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Trout fishing should be good despite the cold weather. Anglers will find skim ice on the reservoirs.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Ice is forming on the reservoir. There is little open water, and that is near the upper end of the reservoir. The inflow and outflow streams might provide fishing opportunities.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- The reservoir is completely frozen, but the ice is not safe to walk on.
