Fishing Report

■ LAKE MEAD -- Fishing has been fair to good, with anglers landing stripers at locations all around the lake. The most productive method has been still-fishing with anchovies in the morning before it gets too hot and the winds kick up.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Fishing has improved in recent weeks. Anglers are catching catfish and striped bass while still-fishing with anchovies. Participants in the recent WON Bass Tournament found action for largemouth and smallmouth bass. Fourteen teams caught and released a total of 47 largemouth and smallmouth bass. The largest fish was 5.42 pounds. Anglers reported seeing bluegill in small coves.

■ URBAN PONDS -- Fishing has been fair to good. Sunfish are biting, with mealworms being the bait of choice. Look for fish near areas with shade or structure. Diligent anglers still are able to pull out catfish using shrimp and hot dog slices.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- With warmer temperatures, bass anglers are finding success near weeds and structure around the reservoirs. Trout fishing still is considered good, though warmer temperatures usually mean trout fishing will become slower as the weeds continue to grow.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Trout still are biting, though weeds might become a problem as temperatures heat up. Rainbows are hitting PowerBait, spinners and flies off the dock and dam, and tiger trout are hitting spinners and worms around the north end of the reservoir.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Bass and crappie fishing have been good using lures and small jigs around the edges of the reservoir. Trout still are biting, but most of the action has been fishing from the dam while using PowerBait, marshmallows and worms.
