FISHING REPORT

■ LAKE MEAD -- Anglers are having success catching stripers and largemouth and smallmouth bass in the Overton Arm near Stewarts Point and the meadows. The Vegas Wash area continues to be productive for anglers trolling or still-fishing with cut anchovies.

Fishermen filled their limits with trout at Boulder Harbor after the season's final trout plant Friday. The removal of Government Dock in Boulder Harbor has opened new fishing access for shore anglers.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Striper fishing has been slow at Willow Beach. Trout anglers have been frustrated because the planters seem to move away from traditional hot spots shortly after being released. Farther south, catfish are working the bottom, and anglers are finding action by trolling or drifting with anchovies. Largemouth bass and sunfish have been slow but are becoming more active.

■ URBAN PONDS -- Despite windy conditions, anglers continue to catch fish at area ponds. Warm-water species are becoming active, as one lucky angler found when he landed a catfish that measured close to 20 inches long.

Action at Sunset Park has been good on the southwest end, where trout are schooling while looking for food. Lorenzi and Floyd Lamb are slow for trout, though some anglers have found success with small crappie jigs fished below the surface.

Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City is giving up rainbow trout. Anglers can expect the first seasonal catfish plant in mid-April.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- The reservoirs on the management area are free of ice. Both trout plants and 14- to 16-inch carry-overs are taking a variety of baits, including PowerBait, worms, spinners and flies.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Ice conditions haven't changed much since last week. The majority of the upper end of the reservoir is free of ice as well as the area around the dock and boat launch. Though anglers can safely launch float tubes and canoes, boats are not yet recommended. Fishing success has been sporadic.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Trout fishing is starting to pick up. With the weather warming and the reservoir filling, fishing should continue to improve. Crappie should bite soon.
