Leftover pigskin on Saturday, Sunday looks tasty

Still stuffed? Hopefully you saved room for a few more helpings of football as there'll be plenty to feast on this weekend.

Ohio State and Notre Dame each got knocked out of the top four spots in this week's College Football Playoff rankings but they'll both get a chance to climb back into the mix on Saturday, when the No. 8 Buckeyes take on No. 10 Michigan at The Big House and the No. 6 Fighting Irish face No. 9 Stanford.

There are four other matchups of teams in the CFP rankings today and Saturday and NFL Sunday brings us a prime-time showdown between the unbeaten New England Patriots and Denver Broncos.

TODAY

No. 4 Iowa at Nebraska (12:30 p.m., ABC (13)): Fresh off replacing Notre Dame as the CFP's No. 4-ranked team, the unbeaten Hawkeyes (11-0) will try to keep their playoff hopes alive against the Huskers (5-6). Iowa already has secured its first berth in the Big Ten title game, which will likely be against No. 5 Michigan State and serve as a CFP elimination game.

No. 7 Baylor at No. 19 TCU (5 p.m., ESPN (30)): The Bears (9-1) will try to keep their playoff hopes alive behind third-string quarterback Chris Johnson, who's expected to make his first career start after throwing two touchdowns in relief of injured freshman starter Jarrett Stidham in Saturday's 45-35 win at No. 11 Oklahoma State.

BEST OF REST: College basketball: Las Vegas Invitational, championship, West Virginia/Richmond vs. California/San Diego State (7:30 p.m., FS1 (329); Football: No. 15 Navy at Houston (9 a.m., ABC (13); NBA: Golden State Warriors at Phoenix Suns (6:30 p.m., NBATV (318)); NHL: New York Rangers at Boston Bruins (10 a.m., NBC (3)).

SATURDAY

No. 8 Ohio State at No. 10 Michigan (9 a.m., ABC (13)): The winner of "The Game" will go to the Big Ten title game only if Michigan State loses at home to Penn State. The Spartans beat the Buckeyes 17-14 on Saturday to put Ohio State's chances of a repeat national title in serious jeopardy. The Buckeyes have won 10 of the last 11 in the series. This will be the first matchup between Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer.

No. 6 Notre Dame at No. 9 Stanford (4:30 p.m., Fox (5)): The Irish (10-1) had four turnovers in a 24-22 loss at No. 1 Clemson in early October, and they survived five turnovers in Saturday's 19-16 win over Boston College that dropped them out of the CFP's top four. Coach Brian Kelly believes a victory over the Cardinal (9-2) should be enough to give Notre Dame a shot at its first national championship since 1988.

No. 3 Oklahoma at No. 11 Oklahoma State (5 p.m., ABC (13)): The Sooners (10-1) have dominated the Bedlam Series, compiling an 84-18-7 mark against the rival Cowboys (10-1), who have lost 10 of the last 12 meetings but won last season's game, 38-35, in overtime. Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, a Heisman Trophy hopeful, passed concussion tests and is expected to play.

BEST OF REST: Football: No. 18 Ole Miss at No. 21 Mississippi State (4:15 p.m., ESPN2 (31)), No. 13 Florida State at No. 12 Florida (4:30 p.m., ESPN (30)).

SUNDAY

New England Patriots at Denver Broncos (5:20 p.m., NBC (3)): This matchup could've featured two unbeaten teams renewing one of the best quarterback rivalries in NFL history. But Peyton Manning will miss at least the next two games with an injured foot, so we'll have to settle for Brock Osweiler and the 8-2 Broncos trying to spoil Tom Brady and the 10-0 Patriots' bid for their second 16-0 regular season. Osweiler, in his first career start, guided Denver's first turnover-free performance of the season in Sunday's 17-15 win at Chicago. This one could come down to defense as New England coach Bill Belichick is a master at confusing inexperienced quarterbacks and the Pats could struggle to score against stingy Denver after losing Dion Lewis, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and Aaron Dobson to injuries.

BEST OF REST: CFL: Grey Cup, Ottawa Redblacks vs. Edmonton Eskimos (3:30 p.m., ESPN2 (31)); NFL: Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs (10 a.m., CBS (8)), New York Giants at Washington Redskins (10 a.m., Fox (5)), Pittsburgh Steelers at Seattle Seahawks (1:25 p.m., CBS (8)).
