Stanford suspends likely starting wide receiver ‘indefinitely’

Michael Rector was bet to be a starting wide receiver for Stanford in its opener against Northwestern, but things changed on Sunday, when head coach David Shaw announced that Rector has been suspended indefinitely.

Stanford said only that Rector was suspended for "disciplinary reasons," and Shaw provided no time frame for his possible return.

Rector, a senior, started three games last season and was fourth on the team with 24 receptions for 324 yards.

The only returning wide receiver who had more catches than Rector last season was Devon Cajuste, who is coming off June ankle surgery.
