Fredette sparks BYU comeback
SAN DIEGO -- Jimmer Fredette tied his career high with 28 points and fueled a late 15-0 run as Brigham Young rebounded for a 69-59 win over San Diego State on Tuesday.
The Cougars were coming off a 75-74 loss at UNLV on Saturday but overcame a 14-point deficit to raise their record to 21-6 overall, 9-4 in the Mountain West Conference.
Fredette, a sophomore, scored 20 points in the second half. With Brigham Young trailing 55-49 with seven minutes left, Jackson Emery hit a 3-pointer to start the 15-0 spurt. Fredette then scored nine straight points, and Emery hit another 3-pointer to give BYU a 64-55 lead with 48 seconds to play.
The Cougars shot 59 percent in the second half after hitting 25.8 percent in the first.
San Diego State (18-8, 8-5) led 33-20 at halftime but couldn't keep up in the second half and had its 10-game home winning streak snapped.
Lorrenzo Wade led the Aztecs with 19 points. Kyle Spain and Tim Shelton had 13 each.
• New Mexico 76, Texas Christian 62 -- At Albuquerque, N.M., Daniel Faris scored 16 of his season-high 20 points in the second half and triggered an 11-2 run that lifted the Lobos (18-10, 9-4 MWC) over the Horned Frogs (14-14, 5-9).
Faris made a tiebreaking bank shot early in the half to begin New Mexico's decisive spurt. Faris also made all 12 of his free-throw attempts.

• No. 18 Louisiana State 81, Florida 75 -- At Baton Rouge, La., Marcus Thornton scored 32 points and the Tigers (24-4, 12-1) clinched a share of the Southeastern Conference title, beating the Gators (21-7, 8-5).
LSU has won nine straight overall and 12 in a row in the SEC. The Tigers can clinch their second outright title in the last four seasons with one win in their last three games.
• Boston College 72, No. 23 Florida State 67 -- At Boston, Tyrese Rice made a key 3-pointer with 20.5 seconds to play and Joe Trapani scored 19 points, leading the Eagles (20-9, 8-6 Atlantic Coast) past the Seminoles (21-7, 8-5).
It was Boston College's third victory this season against one of the conference's top teams. The Eagles handed then-No. 1 North Carolina its first loss Jan. 4 at Chapel Hill and beat No. 7 Duke at home nine days ago.
