MGM Resorts adds security measures for Golden Knights’ home opener

Updated October 9, 2017 - 7:59 pm

MGM Resorts announced Monday it will have additional security measures in place for fans attending the Golden Knights’ home opener at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday but did not provide details of the procedures.

“Security continues to be a top priority at all of MGM Resorts properties, facilities and entertainment venues as our Security team is working tirelessly to protect the safety of our guests and visitors,” MGM Resorts spokesperson Debra DeShong said in a statement released through the Golden Knights.

”MGM Resorts has elevated its level of security and has procedures in place and it remains of utmost importance for our security team. MGM Resorts works consistently with local and national law enforcement agencies to enhance security procedures on our properties.”

MGM Resorts, which operates the arena, said last week a statement would be released outlining the procedures being put in place for fans entering the game following the mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip.

Fans passed through metal detectors for the Knights’ three preseason games at T-Mobile Arena.

The Knights host the Arizona Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at T-Mobile Arena in their first regular-season home game.
