TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1:20 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 mile, Purse $44,000, Claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds
Dr. Au Jus - Hate to see 5-horse fields already in just day 2 of the meet; was thought of enough to run in a turf stakes.
Reel Prime - The only starter in the field to have won a grass race on his resume; need not be much to win a second one here.
Long Shot - Cable Dancer
Race 2 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $21,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Warren's Grandslam - Should be dead fit exiting a 2-turn grass MSW route; class relief and OK synthetic try two races ago.
Anointed - In a race this pathetic, I have to try and beat the favorite Mud Sweat 'n Tears; exits a strong, key MSW race.
Long Shot - Stage Star
Race 3 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $28,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds
Warrens Flyin High - Has lost twice in head to head duels with One Only who figures to be way overbet today; turn the tables.
One Only - Logical chalk figures to get overbet due to beating Warrens Flyin High twice; only way to get some value from this.
Long Shot - Bazzoom
Race 4 - 5 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
Rhodine's Kid - Has run two good races fast enough to crush these while facing tougher; this is definitely his race to lose.
Big Red Tate - FTS from the Ron Ellis barn that has been blasting babies to win first time out; watch the tote board for clues.
Long Shot - Warren's Yodler
Race 5 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $53,000, Allowance, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Bel Air Sizzle - Barry Abrams had great karma with Chantal Sutherland, but she's now at Woodbine; Bejarano will have to do.
Miss Fremont - She has done just enough to attract betting every time out; she could qualify as a major underachiever.
Long Shot - Yasinisi
Race 6 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $53,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
G. I. Betty - She's been knocking on the door of being a good filly; note that David Flores rides for Headley, and not Solis.
Chelcee's Hope - Claimed by Mike Mitchell who legs up Rafael Bejarano, two great angles to like; has lots of back class too.
Long Shot - Broad Try
Race 7 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $44,000, Claiming $62,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Musical High - Has not been seen in 8-months since facing much tougher at Del Mar; been training in Inglewood, can be ready.
Grecian - Tepid chalk in an open grass route; the big class relief is the most she has going for her, Tyler Baze takes over.
Long Shot - Flamingo Princess
Race 8 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $18,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Chicks Rule - The picks are easy here is you are a forgiving handicapper; her race two back beat better, but she was DQ'd.
Here Is Dj's Buddy - Miserable try in last, her race two back puts her right into the photo; we'll see if that race was a fluke.
Long Shot - Colony Trick
Best Bet - Bel Air Sizzle (race 5)
Hollywood Wednesday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/5/$35.20; Long Shots, 8/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Santa Anita Final Totals - 1,318/318/$2,350.00; Long Shots, 652/83/$1,008.20; Best Bets, 74/26/$119.60
