HORSE RACING
July 1, 2007 - 9:00 pm
TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1:20 p.m.
Race 1 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Tasha's Miracle - Ran big in debut to a filly who just raced in the Landaluce on Saturday; look out if she improves at all.
Mystis Geisha - Uncoupled stablemate of the heavy favorite, she is bred to be any kind of filly; live bugboy Talamo rides.
Long Shot - Cry and Catch Me
Race 2 - 7 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
Grecian Spur - Did everything but win last time in a sharp try; figures to be a short price, could set up a miserly double.
Bertrand At Mr A's - Turning back in distance for this elongated sprint; like Nakatani on board, will be closing fast.
Long Shot - Iron Duke
Race 3 - 1 1/4 miles (turf), $150,000 Beverly Hills Handicap, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Citronnade - Frankel filly has grown up right before our very eyes; she is clearly the early speed in a paceless looking race.
Naughty Rafaela - This has all the looks of a Frankel cold exacta, not quinella, exacta; you know the two won't be dueling.
Long Shot - Mabadi
Race 4 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $16,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Runaway Winner - Logical chalk beat some of these last time out; Martin is not afraid to win and drop, Talamo remains loyal.
Kalady - Chased the favorite last time and turned in a decent try; she could run a step or two faster at boxcar prices.
Long Shot - Warren's Summer
Race 5 - 1 mile (turf), Purse $58,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Double Trouble - See no reason why this Frankel filly can't pair up winning races; she showed a willingness to fight in last.
Sol Me Fa - Classy sort returns from a 8-month sabbatical; she may need the start, but she is getting big class relief here.
Long Shot - Grecian
Race 6 - 1 1/4 miles (turf), Purse $36,000, Claiming $40,000, 4-year-olds and up
Ring of Friendship - Short priced chalk figures to have things his own way early on; will blow up the pick 6 if he loses.
Exclamation - Like the way Rosario rides, he squeezes everything he can out of his mounts; he knows this guy from NoCal.
Long Shot - Westerly Magic
Race 7 - 6 furlongs, Purse $16,000, Claiming $12,500, 4-year-olds and up
Hemet Thought - Ran a winning race for this level last time, but got nipped at the wire; claimed by Hess, can pair up races.
John Hennessy - Speedy sort fought gamely last time when collared late; he figures to take on all comers early and keep going.
Long Shot - Swedish Radar
Race 8 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $51,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds
T'aint War Sir - Don't typically pick MSW graduates facing winners; has tremendous turf pedigree and should adore the stuff.
Daytona - Failed miserably as the favorite in last, but he must be better than that; stretching out and Solis remains loyal.
Long Shot - Shem
Race 9 - 7 furlongs, Purse $18,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Appealing Sweets - Sliding down the claiming ladder where she looks like the boss tonight; third start off an 11-month hiatus.
A P Bulletin - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to claiming; Chavez hasn't ridden many, but he wins at a price.
Long Shot - Reckoning Day
Best Bet - Citronnade (race 3)
Hollywood Saturday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 22/7/$61.20; Long Shots, 11/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Hollywood Totals - 852/199/$1,329.00; Long Shots, 414/58/$623.40; Best Bets, 50/21/$92.00
