Nightclub spokesman disputes time Vick left before shooting

The spokesman for the nightclub where Michael Vick had his birthday bash said the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback left in a car minutes before a shooting outside, contradicting Vick's attorney's timeline.

Vick's attorney, Larry Woodward, said on Tuesday that Vick left the Virginia Beach, Va., establishment at least 10 minutes, and perhaps as many as 20 minutes, before the shooting.

Allen Fabijan, spokesman for Guadalajara Mexican restaurant and nightclub, said Wednesday that time-stamped footage from a surveillance camera outside the entrance of the club shows a car with Vick inside leaving at 2:07 a.m. -- about four minutes before the shooting a block away.

Woodward did not return calls.

Fabijan said police have asked the club not to release the video to media but allowed The Associated Press to view the grainy footage.

Vick's face is not discernible; a man wearing white that Fabijan said is Vick appears moving toward a parked car at 2:04 a.m. A crowd quickly gathered, and Fabijan said Vick accommodated fans trying to get an autograph, to pose for a photo or to shake hands -- so much so that a club security guard tried to disperse the crowd.

The waiting car pulled away at 2:07 a.m. in the direction of the eventual shooting.

Woods queried about doctor accused of HGH distribution

Tiger Woods was interviewed by federal authorities investigating a Canadian doctor accused of distributing human growth hormone, a person familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation of Dr. Anthony Galea is ongoing.

Woods previously acknowledged being treated by the Toronto-based doctor, but insisted he did not receive any performance-enhancing drugs.

"Tiger willingly spoke to the authorities and cooperated fully," Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg, said in an e-mail. "It was confirmed that because he did nothing illegal, he is not the subject of any criminal investigation. Because there is an ongoing investigation involving others, there will be no further comment."

Also: Illinois State basketball player Bobby Hill was sentenced to three years' probation and dismissed from the university after pleading guilty to criminal sexual abuse.

Hill, 22 and a redshirt junior last season, pleaded guilty to sexual contact with a girl younger than 16.

Brind'Amour hangs up skates, to join Hurricanes' front office

Rod Brind'Amour is retiring after 21 NHL seasons to take an unspecified front-office job with the Carolina Hurricanes.

The team's former captain said his decision was made simpler after he talked with general manager Jim Rutherford and they decided the aging veteran wouldn't fit with the Hurricanes' rebuilding plan.

Trying to find a roster spot on another team "never, ever felt right," he said, and Rutherford asked him to remain with the organization in some capacity.

Brind'Amour, who turns 40 in August, finished his career with 452 goals and 732 assists in 1,484 regular-season games in 21 years with St. Louis, Philadelphia and Carolina. He also had 51 goals and 60 assists in 159 career playoff games and scored 12 goals during the Hurricanes' run to their only Cup in 2006.
