INTERNET ONLY: Mendoza backstops shutout in Rancho victory

Rancho's Gerardo Mendoza recorded a shutout as the Rams defeated visiting Canyon Springs 5-0 on Monday.

Julia Abrica, Pierre Flores, Eduardo Guzman, Max Vargas and Edgar Vasquez scored for Rancho.

At Spring Valley, the Grizzlies and Sierra Vista played to a scoreless tie.

Spring Valley's John Strand and Andrew Fontein of the Lions had the shutouts.

At Eldorado, Rene Ardon scored twice to lead the Sundevils to a 4-1 victory over Desert Pines.

Omar Diaz had a goal and an assist for Eldorado, and Nelson Garcia also scored.

Luis Navarro had the Jaguars' goal.

At Valley, Andjelko Markovic scored twice as the Vikings beat Chaparral, 4-0.

Omar Robles had a goal and an assist for Valley, and Rosendo Dorjas also scored.

Pedro Arias made two saves to earn the shutout.

At Kellog-Zaher Park, Shane Thompson and Ramak Roohani each had a goal and an assist to help Bishop Gorman beat Bonanza, 4-0.

Cody Barnett and John Vaccaro also scored. Jojo Vitale made seven saves and Jake O'Rourke four to combine for the shutout.

At Durango, Clark's Joe Castro scored off a corner kick in the second half as the Chargers tied the Trailblazers, 1-1.

Francisco Bautista scored in the first half for Durango.
