Brandon Allen's two-run single in the eighth inning capped the host Reno Aces' rally from an early five-run deficit in their 8-7 Pacific Coast League win over the 51s on Thursday night.
After Las Vegas (41-34) lit up Aces starter Zach Kroenke for seven runs in the first 4 2/3 innings, three Reno relievers shut out the 51s the rest of the way on just one hit -- Kevin Howard's two-out, pinch single in the ninth.
Yhency Brazoban (4-1) got the win, striking out three in the final two innings.
Jason Lane's two-out grand slam capped the scoring in Las Vegas' five-run first inning. Chris Woodward and David Cooper each hit a solo home run, in the fourth and fifth innings, to put the 51s up 7-2.
Allen, Sean Burroughs, Cody Ransom and Collin Cowgill had two RBIs apiece for the Aces (44-31), who had a 13-8 edge in hits.
Las Vegas starter Brett Cecil gave up five runs on eight hits and two walks in six-plus innings. Reliever Winston Abreu entered with two on and one out in the seventh and worked out of the jam to preserve a 7-6 lead.
But, in the bottom of the eighth, Danny Farquhar (3-1) gave up two singles and a hit-batsman to the first three batters, before Allen -- who had been 0-for-4 -- laced an opposite-field single to score two runs.
