LEFTOVERS: Monsters make way for Wizards

The Little Monsters are not thrilled with the Washington Wizards.

The NBA team is playing in the second round of the playoffs, and Game 6 of Washington’s series with the Indiana Pacers is tentatively scheduled for May 15. That also happened to be the night Lady Gaga was scheduled to perform at the Verizon Center, the home of the Wizards.

Naturally, the idea of Gaga’s concert having to be postponed or canceled sent the Little Monsters, as Gaga refers to her millions of fans, into a tizzy. They took to Twitter with comments ranging from, “I will cry for days,” to “I will kill myself.”

The Wizards and Gaga resolved the conflict Tuesday, as she will perform Monday with the Wizards playing May 15, if necessary. While that works for some of her fans, not all the Little Monsters were satisfied. One posted on Twitter: “I hope everyone on the @WashWizards team breaks their hips and ankles as revenge for this.”

A bit harsh, don’t you think?

■ HIBBERT TARGETED — Roy Hibbert’s 0-fer performance in Monday’s Game 1 against Washington has made the Pacers’ 7-foot-2-inch center a subject of derision by former NBA players while leaving his teammates puzzled.

Hibbert failed to score a point or grab a rebound in 18 minutes in Indiana’s 102-96 loss to the Wizards. In the aftermath, former NBA players Tracy McGrady and Gilbert Arenas took to social media to chastise Hibbert. McGrady went on Twitter and said: “Me and Roy Hibbert had the same amount of points and rebounds tonight.”

Arenas photoshopped a picture of Hibbert holding a piece of paper with two zeros on it and posted it to his Instagram account with the following caption: “I made the All-Star (Game) but through 3 quarters these are my stats.” Arenas took the photo down shortly after it was posted.

Hibbert’s teammates weren’t exactly defending him, either.

“I have faith that along the way he’s going to find himself,” Paul George told The Indianapolis Star. “But we’re at the point where we’re really going to need Roy, and we really need him now.”

A repeat in Game 2 could find Hibbert the target of more barbs. Charles Barkley reportedly is warming up in the TNT studio.

■ HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF? — The Detroit Lions are scheduled to select 10th in Thursday’s first round of the NFL Draft. Guess what the Lions are looking for?

A wide receiver, of course.

According to si.com, Detroit appears enamored with Texas A&M’s Mike Evans and is rumored to be willing to move up to get him. Of course, the Lions have the NFL’s best receiver in Calvin Johnson and signed free-agent receiver Golden Tate this offseason.

But maybe they’re feeling nostalgic at Ford Field and want to go back to the Matt Millen days when the Lions took a receiver with their first pick in 2003 (Charles Rogers), 2004 (Roy Williams), 2005 (Mike Williams) and 2007 (Johnson).

Lions fans would rather see the team draft a safety or a cornerback or an offensive lineman. But who listens to the fans? Certainly not the Lions, who along with Cleveland, Houston and Jacksonville have never made it to a Super Bowl.
