Belfort knocks out Rockhold to highlight UFC card in Brazil

For the second straight time, Vitor Belfort knocked out a fellow middleweight contender with a head kick, this time in the main event of the Ultimate Fighting Championship card in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil, on Saturday night.

The 36-year-old former light heavyweight champion landed a spinning heel kick that sent former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold to the ground midway through the opening round. Belfort followed up with punches to end the bout at the 2:32 mark. Belfort used a head kick to knock out Michael Bisping in the second round of their fight in January.

Another former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, fared better in his UFC debut, submitting Chris Camozzi by arm triangle in the first round.

Las Vegan Evan Dunham came out on the wrong side of a controversial decision in a lightweight bout against Rafael dos Anjos.
