Kyle Petty charity ride to make first stop at Aliante Station

A caravan of motorcyclists cruising through Las Vegas on Saturday will not be stragglers from last weekend's Laughlin River Run.

The group of several hundred bikers that will stop Saturday afternoon at Aliante Station off Interstate 215 will be participating in the 16th annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. It will be the first stop on a 3,800-mile cross-country trek that will conclude May 9 in Randleman, N.C.

Leading the pack will be Kyle and Pattie Petty, NASCAR legend Harry Gant and former NFL great Herschel Walker. The ride is to benefit the Pettys' Victory Junction Gang Camps, which provide a year-round camping and recreational environment for children ages 6 to 16 with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses.

The event has raised $13 million for Victory Junction, with 6,400 riders logging 9.1 million miles since its inception.

The riders will spend the night at Aliante before departing at 7 a.m. Sunday for Richfield, Utah.
