Scoring error in Busch race at Bristol burns Kyle Busch

BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Kasey Kahne passed Ryan Newman with eight laps left, then held off several charges from Jason Leffler to win the Busch Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday.

A NASCAR scoring error against Las Vegan Kyle Busch, costing him a chance to run for the win, marred the race. Busch was penalized with 77 laps left because NASCAR said he violated the pit-road commitment line. He had to forfeit his second-place position, a penalty NASCAR later said was incorrect.

But it was too late by then, as Busch had dropped to 28th.

"I don't know that I hit the line -- I don't think I did," Busch said. "They could have waited to get it sorted out and do the right thing, but they didn't."

With Busch out of the way, Newman pulled away as the leader on the ensuing restart.

CHAMP CAR -- At Zolder, Belgium, Will Power was the fastest in qualifying for Sunday's Champ Car Belgian Grand Prix.

The 26-year-old Australian went around the 2.622-mile Zolder circuit in 1 minute, 13.810 seconds.

Series leader Sebastien Bourdais of France was second, 0.213 seconds back, and Power's fellow Team Australian driver Simon Pagenaud was third, 0.220 seconds behind the Australian.

FORMULA ONE -- At Istanbul, Turkey, Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and McLaren's Lewis Hamilton split the top times in the two practice sessions for Sunday's Turkish Grand Prix.

Raikkonen led the morning session with a time of 1 minute, 27.988 seconds on the 3.316-mile Istanbul Park circuit, ahead of teammate Felipe Massa (1:28.391).

Hamilton was fastest in the afternoon, clocking 1:28.469. Raikkonen was second with 1:28.762, with Toyota's Ralf Schumacher third.
