Officials set for Alvarez-Angulo fight in Las Vegas

Las Vegas’ Tony Weeks was selected by the Nevada Athletic Commission Thursday to referee the March 8 junior middleweight fight between former world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Alfredo Angulo at the MGM Grand Garden. The judges for the 12-round main event will be Jerry Roth and Dave Moretti of Las Vegas and Craig Metcalfe of Canada.

The NAC also selected the officials for the three world championship title fights on the undercard. Kenny Bayless of Las Vegas will referee the WBC super bantamweight title fight between champion Leo Santa Cruz and Cristian Mijares with Adalaide Byrd and Glenn Trowbridge of Las Vegas and John McKee of New York as the judges. Robert Byrd of Las Vegas will referee the WBC interim lightweight title fight between Omar Figueroa and Ricardo Alvarez with Burt Clements of Reno, Patricia Morse-Jarman of Las Vegas and Jurgen Langos of Germany the judges.

Reno’s Vic Drakulich will referee the IBF junior middleweight title fight between champion Carlos Molina and Jermall Charlo. The judges will be Robert Hoyle and Lisa Giampa of Las Vegas and William Lerch of Illinois. All three title fights are scheduled for 12 rounds.
