Patriots DE Chandler Jones hospitalized after visiting police station

New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones had a "medical emergency" and was hospitalized last Sunday for an undisclosed issue after he visited the Foxborough Police Department.

The Boston Herald reported Tuesday that Jones, who led the team with 12.5 sacks during the regular season, showed up at the police department at 7:42 a.m. Sunday, before being transported to Norwood Hospital shortly after 8 a.m.

The newspaper obtained dispatch records that indicate an officer was sent to Jones' nearby home to "secure the residence."

According to Chris Curtis, producer of the "Dennis & Callahan Show" at WEEI in Boston, police sources said Jones, 25, overdosed on pills.

The Patriots released a statement Tuesday night: "Chandler Jones was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and released that day. He reported to work on time Monday morning and has participated in all meetings and practices since then."
