Portland holds off UNR, 63-61

PORTLAND, Ore -- Armon Johnson of UNR missed a layup at the buzzer, and Portland hung on to beat the Wolf Pack 63-61 on Saturday night.

UNR (2-3) trailed 63-58 after a basket by Portland's Kramer Knutson with 1:51 remaining. But freshman Luke Babbitt made 3 of 4 free throws to lift the Wolf Pack to within 63-61 with 40 seconds to play.

After a UNR timeout with five seconds to play, Johnson missed his tying layup attempt and it was rebounded by Luke Sikma as time expired.

Knutson led Portland (4-1) with 15 points and T.J. Campbell scored 13. Nik Raivio had 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Pilots made 7 of 15 3-point attempts, but had to overcome a 10-for-22 night at the free-throw line.

Babbitt finished with 17 points and eight rebounds for UNR.
