Princeton handles Pacific in Holiday Hoops Classic

Princeton made a season-high 18 3-point shots and Pacific’s senior-laden lineup was unable to shut down the Tigers, who improved to 9-1 with an 83-58 win over UOP in the Holiday Hoops Classic at the South Point Equestrian Center and Arena. Princeton built a 45-30 halftime lead and led by as many as 30 in the second half (79-49) as Pacific’s variety of zone defenses were unable to slow Princeton down.
Guard T.J. Bray had four 3-pointers as part of a 20-point performance in just 27 minutes of action. Hans Brase added 13 and Spencer Weisz had 12 to help Princeton win its eighth straight game.
UOP (8-2), which was led by Sama Taku with 12 points, had just two assists Friday. The Tigers will play Bradley today at 5:30 p.m. Princeton will face Portland at 8 p.m. in the second half of the doubleheader. The Pilots improved to 7-4 with a 74-53 win over Bradley. Ryan Nicholas scored 18 points and Portland shot 64 percent from the floor in the second half while holding the Braves (5-6) to just 4-of-13 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc for the entire game. Omari Grier led Bradley with 17 points.
