Reynolds triples twice as 51s win at Iowa, 6-4

Matt Reynolds tripled twice, the second one with the bases loaded in the fifth inning, to help the 51s to a 6-4 win over the Iowa Cubs on Thursday in Des Moines, Iowa.

Las Vegas (71-55) trailed 3-1 after three innings, but Reynolds tripled in the fourth and scored on a double-play ground ball to cut the deficit to 3-2. In the fifth, his two-out triple cleared the bases, giving the 51s a 5-3 lead.

Starting pitcher John Lannan (2-1) retired 10 straight after a shaky start, and the Las Vegas bullpen preserved the win, as Ryan Reid got out of a two-on, one-out jam in the ninth to gain his fourth save.

The teams will meet at 4:35 p.m. today.
