RiverCats defeat 51s for third victory in four-game series

Jarrett Parker hit a double, home run and drove in three runs to help the Sacramento RiverCats to a 5-1 victory over the 51s in a Pacific Coast League game Friday in Sacramento, Calif.

The Rivercats won three of the four games in the series.

Sacramento (49-58) took a 3-0 lead after the first inning. Kelby Tomlinson scored on an RBI fielder's choice by Mac Williamson, and Parker drove in Williamson and Trevor Brown with a double.

Las Vegas (59-48) got a run back in the fourth when Darrell Ceciliani scored on a double-play groundout by Johnny Monell, but Parker extended the lead in the bottom of the inning with his home run.

The 51s squandered a golden opportunity in the eighth. Erik Cordier walked the bases loaded with no outs and was pulled from the game in favor of Josh Osich, who struck out Travis Taijeron, Matt Reynolds and Monell.

Osich (1-0) finished the game and got the win. RiverCats starter Curtis Partch lasted four innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out seven.

Brandon Allen had a single and double in four at-bats for Las Vegas.

The 51s return to Cashman Field to open a four-game series against Tacoma at 7:05 p.m. today.
