Royals’ Hosmer, teammates pick up $15K tab

First baseman Eric Hosmer made good on a Twitter invitation to Kansas City Royals fans to meet players at McFadden’s bar following a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Angels in the American League Division Series on Sunday.

In a tweet at 12:04 a.m. CT Monday, Hosmer issued the open invite to a fan base frenzied by Kansas City’s first postseason series victory in three decades.

“KC you guys showed us so much love all year were returning the favor for you guys tonight at @McFaddensKC #allonebigfamily see.u all there,” Hosmer wrote of the afterparty about 10 minutes from Kaufmann Stadium.

A video from McFadden’s showed Hosmer and closer Greg Holland spraying champagne at the 500-plus fans who came to the bar for the extended celebration.

According to the Kansas City Star, the crowd helped ring up a bar tab of $15,000, of which Hosmer paid $3,000. His teammates picked up the remainder of the bill, the newspaper reported.

The Royals begin the American League Championship Series in Baltimore on Friday.
