Sen. Marco Rubio tells FSU fans to ‘relax’ after insulting their school

Apparently, Donald Trump isn't the only politically incorrect Republican presidential candidate. Sen. Marco Rubio, a Florida graduate who went to law school at Miami, slammed rival Florida State during an interview on Iowa sports radio station KNXO-AM (1460).

"Look, I don't have anything against Florida State," Rubio said. "I think there has to be a school where people who can't get into Florida can go to college. And so that's why we have Florida State."

After his crack infuriated some Seminoles fans, Rubio took to Twitter on Tuesday to tell everyone to calm down: "#FSU fans relax. It was just college football trash talk on sports radio, not serious statement on @meetthepress."

However, Rubio followed up that tweet with another shot at Florida State, posting, "But we are still going to #BeatFSU."

Florida State president John Thrasher had a great comeback for Rubio, saying, "He's a nice kid. I'm sure he's frustrated by his low standing in the polls, which I believe could be a reflection of where he got his education."

Rubio, a big Miami Dolphins fan, also might've hurt himself in the polls in New England after taking a shot at the Patriots.

"Not only do I not like the Patriots, I'd like to see Brady suspended for 16 games because it hurts my Dolphins," he said. "So I probably won't win New Hampshire because of that."
