UCLA freshman Cordell Broadus, a four-star wide receiver recruit and son of rapper Snoop Dogg, has decided to give up football.
Broadus, 18, was heavily recruited out of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. He had other offers from Florida State and Notre Dame.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Broadus never reported to the Bruins' preseason camp when it began on Monday.
"Cordell informed me yesterday that he has decided to pursue other passions in his life — in particular his love of film through his company Film School Productions," UCLA coach Jim Mora said in a statement Friday. "Cordell is an amazing young man with many talents, and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his degree at UCLA."
Mora acknowledged Broadus' absence from camp on Thursday and said the wideout was dealing with a personal matter, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Meanwhile, cornerback Justin Combs, son of Sean "Diddy" Combs is practicing with the Bruins in San Bernardino, Calif.
Diddy Combs was arrested on June 22 for allegedly attacking strength coach Sal Alosi with a kettlebell because he was unhappy with his son's treatment. No one was seriously injured. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office refused to file felony charges, but the case is still being reviewed.
Diddy posted a photo of his son with a "GO BRUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" on Instagram.
