Summers, Anthony star in scrimmage

With young quarterback Travis Dixon and his Rebels receivers struggling to connect Friday night, it was up to the ground game to try to impress during the UNLV football team's second scrimmage of the spring at Rebel Park.

Frank Summers, a 5-foot-10-inch, 240-pound running back who transferred from California, rushed for 88 yards on nine carries, including a 35-yard run during the team's 120-play public workout.

While the passing game struggled, one receiver, Rodelin Anthony, did impress coach Mike Sanford. The 6-5 sophomore scored on a 61-yard touchdown pass from Dack Ishii. He also recovered a fumble and made a TD-saving tackle on Jeremy Geathers' 51-yard fumble return.
