Tebow can’t get an ‘Amen’

Fans and media alike have debated the NFL readiness of Tim Tebow ad nauseam since long before his historic college career came to an end.

Most of that debate has focused on his throwing motion and his skills on the field.

Tebow's attitude and habit of injecting his religion into all facets of his life might also be met with resistance now that he has ventured outside of his kingdom of Florida.

According to a Pro Football Talk report, the quarterback got a rude welcome to life at the next level when he took the Wonderlic test at the scouting combine, and it had nothing to do with his below-average score.

The story, which Tebow has denied, says that after the test administrator issued the instructions for the test to Tebow's group, the former Heisman Trophy winner requested that everyone in the group bow their heads in prayer before taking the test.

One member of the group reportedly told Tebow to "Shut the (expletive) up," drawing a laugh from the rest of the players.

During the 2009 national title game, Fox announcer Thom Brennaman made a notoriously hyperbolic statement about Tebow.

"If you're fortunate enough to spend five minutes or 20 minutes around Tim Tebow, your life is better for it," Brennaman gushed.

We're guessing that whoever yelled at Tebow before the Wonderlic test would probably disagree.

■ BUCK OFF? -- Joe Buck said in a radio interview that he thinks HBO will no longer produce his awful TV show.

"I don't think there will be another episode of 'Joe Buck Live,' " he said on KSLG-AM in St. Louis. "There's only another nine months on that contract anyway, so I don't think it's that big of a deal either way."

The network has made no official announcement on the future of the program.

You'd think some executive would be dying to announce something along the lines of what Buck said when he blew Randy Moss' fake mooning out of proportion.

"That is a disgusting act ... and it's unfortunate that we have that on our air," Buck said of Moss' action, which came after he scored the Vikings' final touchdown in a 31-17 playoff win at Green Bay on Jan. 9, 2005.

■ FOND FAREWELL -- The San Francisco Giants traded Kevin Frandsen to the Boston Red Sox on Friday for a player to be named or cash considerations.

It was a bittersweet day for Frandsen, who was unlikely to make the Giants' roster this season. He came up through the organization after an outstanding collegiate career at San Jose State.

According to a story posted on the San Jose Mercury News blog of Giants beat writer Andrew Baggarly, Frandsen was emotional when discussing the trade.

Not all of his teammates were as choked up, however.

Shortstop Edgar Renteria wished his departing teammate well in his own way.

"You got traded for cash? That means you suck!" Renteria said.

Is it possible Renteria was in the room when Tebow was taking the Wonderlic test?
