Thrill of victory, agony of the host

What if they held a Winter Olympics but nobody wanted to host?
The 2022 Winter Games are a year away from finding a home. But the six cities that were targeted are down to four and the field may be narrowing even more.
Krakow, Poland announced it is withdrawing its bid, following the lead of Davos-St. Moritz, Switzerland. Oslo, Norway is facing a tide of public opposition and the Lviv, Ukraine bid is on hold because, well, have you noticed what’s been going on in the Ukraine lately?
That leaves Beijing, China and Almaty, Kazakhstan as the possible host cities. And considering the recent Sochi Olympics cost $51 billion, the Chinese might even have second thoughts. It might cost them $51 billion just to make snow in the mountains.
