Timberlake teams with Kim

One of the perks of hosting a golf tournament is picking your Pro-Am playing partner.

Justin Timberlake decided to choose someone he is familiar with: Anthony Kim.

The two teamed before the U.S. Open in June with Kim caddying for Timberlake at Bethpage Black during the Golf Digest U.S. Open Challenge. Today, they'll be playing partners at TPC Summerlin in the Championship Pro-Am of Timberlake's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

"Anthony and I, our foursome will be the most fun, for sure," Timberlake said Tuesday. "If there's one guy I'm not going to bet, it's Anthony. Every time me and him have a friendly game, it seems like he turns it up."

Timberlake said he has worked hard to improve the celebrity field and that this year's group is an upgrade from 2008, when the most notable celebrity -- Ellen DeGeneres -- didn't even play. Joining Timberlake on the course today will be former major league star Greg Maddux and LPGA standout Natalie Gulbis, both of whom live in Southern Nevada. Also participating are former world champion boxer Oscar De La Hoya, musicians Alice Cooper and Kenny G, actor Kevin Dillon, singers Chris Kirkpatrick and Josh Kelley and comedian George Lopez.

The Pro-Am begins at 7:10 a.m. Timberlake and Kim tee off at 11:30 a.m. on the first hole.

• TOURNAMENT ODDS -- The field is the 5-2 favorite to win this week's Shriners Open, according to odds posted at the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook and on golfodds.com.

Among the individuals listed, Jim Furyk is the lowest at 10-1. Kim, Hunter Mahan and Tim Clark are next at 20-1, with David Toms, Nick Watney and Matt Kuchar at 25-1. Defending champion Marc Turnesa is 200-1.

The Hilton also is offering some head-to-head matchups.

Mahan is minus-120 against Kim, who is even money.

Kuchar and Watney are minus-110 in their matchup, as are Steve Marino and Brandt Snedeker.

Clark is minus-125 against Toms, who is minus-105.

In a matchup of former UNLV golfers, Chad Campbell is minus-130 against Ryan Moore, who is plus-110.

• FINAL FOUR -- Alex Aragon, Tag Ridings, Nickolas Jones and Ernie Gonzalez gained the last spots in the 132-man field in Monday's qualifying round.

• SHOOT LOW -- Despite the alterations to TPC Summerlin, scores should remain low this week. Last year, the scoring average was 69.07 strokes per round, and 2,131 birdies were shot, the most of any course on the PGA Tour. Also, 95 eagles were carded.
