TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 7:05 p.m.

Race 1 - 6 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds

Chk Chk Boom - Did a classic pop and stop while facing MSW foes in last; big class drop and taking blinkers off.

Miss Nikki C. - Was well bet in first 3 career starts; she may finally be coming around to showing some promise.

Long Shot - Lake Osceola

Race 2 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $34,000, Claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Mission Viejo Halo - Made a late gain in last off a 10-month hiatus; if she moves forward a step, she'll be double tough.

Stanford Dolly - Been grinding away cashing paychecks for A. C. Avila; her turf resume is stronger than most of the others.

Long Shot - Madeline Ruby

Race 3 - 6 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, 2-year-olds

Ribat - Logical chalk ran a decent second in a well-backed debut; Joe Talamo had choices and opted for Mike Pupye here.

Blingboy - Three seconds at Golden Gate in 2-furlong drag races; adds blinkers on and Joel Rosario, a lot to like.

Long Shot - Trouble Rules

Race 4 - 6 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Wolgan Valley - Was finishing well in last when third; sliding down the claiming ladder, may have finally found his niche.

Total Sum - Favorite is worth taking a run at off a 14-month hiatus; has talent, but fitness is a major question.

Long Shot - Island Run

Race 5 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $43,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Amina - She is still eligible for this first level open allowance because she is a Cal-bred; in a good groove now.

Seriously - Exits a tough heat in the Railbird; is flattered by next out wins by Switch and All Due Respect.

Long Shot - Folk Dancer

Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $41,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

Blue Jay Attack - Marty Jones babies almost always improve with experience; has an uncoupled entry, caveat emptor.

Don Perico - This is the other half of the Marty Jones uncoupled entry; FTS will be ridden by Joel Rosario, warning enough.

Long Shot - Lone Justice

Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $44,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Magic Launch - Her grass races are plain better than her synthetic tries; tactical speed to sit a nice trip.

Initial Impression - Picks up a Joel Rosario second call, looks very live to me; saves ground and grinds it out late.

Long Shot - Silver Heat

Race 8 - 6 furlongs, Purse $15,600, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Warren's Moon - Twice beaten favorite has burned a lot of money; facing the slowest field so far, need not be much.

Lost Prophet - Big class dropper is favored on that fact alone; speedball returns off an 8-month hiatus.

Long Shot - Sh Sh Shakin'

Best Bet - Chk Chk Boom (race 1)

Hollywood Park Sunday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/7/$35.80; Long Shots, 9/1/$5.00; Best Bet, 1/1/$4.60

Hollywood Park Totals - 844/244/$1,570.20; Long Shots, 414/47/$554.00; Best Bets, 50/29/$117.20

SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY - #6 Dubinsky (9/2) in race 5 at Philadelphia Park. For scoring purposes, we'll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Sunday, Amazing ran out at Belmont Park. Stats - 123/87/$629.10
