UNLV beats Weber State 72-63
Matt Shaw made four 3-pointers and scored a career-high 16 points, and Chace Stanback scored 15 points as UNLV defeated Weber State 72-63 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Rebels (9-1) led 37-32 at halftime, and Shaw and Derrick Jasper each made a 3-pointer as UNLV opened the second half with a 12-0 run.
Shaw, a 6-foot-8-inch junior forward, hit 4 of 6 3-pointers. Stanback, a sophomore forward, tied the career-high 15 he scored in the Rebels’ win at Southern Utah on Tuesday.
Jasper finished with seven points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Oscar Bellfield added 10 points and eight assists for UNLV, which next hosts South Carolina-Upstate on Saturday.
UNLV 37, Weber State 32 (halftime)
Chace Stanback scored 11 points and Matt Shaw and Tre’Von Willis made key contributions to lift UNLV to a 37-32 halftime lead over Weber State at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Shaw made two 3-pointers in the first five minutes as the Rebels (8-1) played with a rare early lead. Willis came off the bench and immediately scored five points. Stanback’s jumper put UNLV up 22-9 with 9:27 remaining.
Damian Lillard, the top player for the Wildcats (5-4), shot 0-for-7 from the field.
